The new Virginia Mason Bainbridge Island Medical Center, at 1344 Wintergreen Lane NE in the Wintergreen Walk development at Highway 305 and High School Road, opened Monday.
The facility reportedly encompasses 30,000 square feet of space for its array of outpatient primary and specialty services, including family medicine for adults and children; behavioral health; cardiology; cardiac testing; concierge medicine; dermatology; hematology-oncology consultations; endocrinology; neurology; neurosurgery consults; orthopedics; physical therapy; podiatry; rheumatology; sleep medicine; travel medicine; nutrition counseling; digital X-ray; 3-dimensional mammography; MRI and CT imaging; ultrasound; bone-density screening; and laboratory services.
The facility’s design combines function with flexibility, officials said, with ample room for additional programs and services as needed in the future.
The two-story medical building has 31 patient exam rooms, patient registration stations located in the lobby, and large windows that allow sunlight into interior spaces.
“One of our highest priorities has been to create the right facility in the right setting that will support remarkable patient experiences and inspire community wellness,” said Dr. Catherine Edwards, section head for primary care. “The result is a medical facility that is second to none.”
On May 20, a public open house at the new facility reportedly attracted more than 800 people. The event featured self-guided tours, wine-tasting and Seattle Seahawks’ Tyler Lockett, who signed autographs.
Virginia Mason has been on Bainbridge Island for more than 25 years.
In 2015, the organization announced plans to relocate to this new, larger facility from its previous location in downtown Winslow.
