The North Kitsap Recovery Resource Center, a welcoming and trauma-informed place to receive recovery services for drug and alcohol addiction, will open Oct. 26 in Poulsbo.
Thanks to funding from the city of Poulsbo and the Olympic Community of Health, services are free regardless of insurance status, a news release states. Services are available to anyone who lives or works in NK (north of Silverdale) or is charged with a crime in Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island Municipal Court.
The center is located at 19351 8th Ave. NE suite 141, just up the hill from Centennial Park. Hours are every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed if there’s a fifth Thursday in a given month).
The center is staffed with: a substance use disorder professional providing evaluations and resource navigation; peer support specialists providing personalized support; and a Kitsap Mental Health Services engagement specialist able to connect visitors to KMHS services.
Every other Thursday the center is staffed with: a nurse offering basic medical care and connection to medication for opioid use disorders (first and third Thursday of each month); a mental health professional providing counseling services and a housing navigator (second and fourth Thursdays).
On non-center days, services will be available by appointment, such as: individual peer support and peer support groups; additional substance use evaluations; telehealth appointments; and YWCA domestic violence services.
The center operates on a membership model, per the release. Members of the center are able to access the site on non-center days for showers, computer use and telehealth appointments.
