Do you know a student who goes above and beyond to help others? Are there budding philanthropists in your family? Do your young neighbors deserve credit for the good they do for our community? If so, Bainbridge Youth Services would like to hear from you. BYS is currently accepting nominations for the 2014 Compassionate Action Award.
The award — established by BYS in 2001 — honors local youth who give of themselves in a spirit of generosity and service to others.
“BYS believes it is important in our fast-paced, competitive and conflict-ridden world to recognize excellence of character, particularly acts of generosity, courage, integrity and stewardship,” said Marina Cofer-Wildsmith, BYS executive director.
The award recognizes those youth (grades 7 through 12) who are ambassadors of service to others and who go beyond what is required or expected in school, jobs, activities and in public and personal relationships.
Teachers, counselors, parents, church leaders and other adults in the community who know and work with our youth are invited to submit the names of recipients for the Compassionate Action Award by Oct. 31. Awardees will be honored at the annual ceremony on Nov. 23.
If you would like to submit the name of someone for this year’s award submit a nomination form online at the BYS website, www.bainbridgeyouth
