Hallett earns two bronze medals; boy hoopsters fall in Metro title game.

TACOMA – Marie Welsh continued her run of titles Saturday in the individual finals at the 2A/3A state gymnastics meet at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
The junior took home titles in the bars with a 9.675 and in the vault with a 9.775.
She also won the all-around title with a 38.625, .300 higher than Kennedy’s Anissa Madrid and .15 higher than the 4A all-around champion Carrie Dragland from Bothell.
The team took home third place with a score of 172.075 and won 3A all-academic champions with a 3.818 GPA.
In swimming, Olaf Olson took home his second straight diving title with a score of 448.75. Beau Riebe of Mercer Island was second with a score of 391.20.
Cheyne Clark took fifth with 316.20, .60 behind fourth-place finisher Carson Darling of Bellingham.
Austin Hallett placed third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.14 and finished in third in the 100 backstroke with a All-American consideration time of 52.78.
The boys basketball team lost to Rainier Beach in the Metro League championship final 37-36 at Seattle Pacific University.
The Spartans struggled on offense but were ahead by one when Reggie Moore hit the game-winning shot for the Vikings with 30 seconds left.
Steven Gray had 13 points, five rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a charge, but was held to zero points in the fourth.
Coby Gibler and Austin Wood combined for just five points and eight rebounds.
The girls basketball team defeated Holy Names 53-37 to earn the fifth seed to districts.
Caitlyn Salo had 16 points while Lindsay Bratonia had 14.
The boys play Friday in the 3A Sea-King District 2 tournament against Cleveland or Newport at Bellevue Community College at 4:45 p.m.
The girls play Tuesday in the 3A Sea-King District against Nathan Hale at Ingraham High School at 3 p.m.
