Olympian medalist Emily Silver will be the guest speaker at an upcoming meeting of the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island.
Rotary will welcome Silver at the organization’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 19 at Wing Point Country Club.
Silver grew up on Bainbridge Island, and will tell her inspiring story of her experience at the Beijing Olympics. She will describe how she overcame adversity to win an Olympic Silver medal.
After graduating from Bainbridge High in 2004, Silver attended the University of California at Berkley and competed as a member of Cal’s storied women’s swimming team.
While at Berkley, Silver won multiple national and NCAA titles, swam on several American record-setting relays and was named a collegiate All-American more than 20 times. She was a member of the United States teams at five international competitions, including two World Championships, the World University Games and the Olympic Games. There is a charge and reservations are required. Rotary officials note there is limited public seating, so reservations should be made early.
Admission of $25 includes a buffet dinner and program; RSVP by Wednesday, March 14 to Kate Smith at jksmith6225@gmail.com.
