Islanders for Collaborative Policing is conducting a survey of residents on police issues on Bainbridge Island.

The 10-question survey, which can be found at http://collpol.blogspot.com/, covers topics ranging from views on the police department to whether or not police services should be contracted to an outside party.

Residents should get their input in before the group hosts its next meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 30 at the Bainbridge Public Library. The meeting will include discussion of the survey as well as a conversation with Police Lt. Bob Day, president of the Bainbridge Island Police Guild.

Islanders for Collaborative Policing is a group with the stated aim of building trust between islanders and their police department. It was founded by Kim Hendrickson, the former secretary/chief examiner of the Civil Service Commission, which is responsible for reviewing applicants for the city’s police force.

After she was fired from the position, Hendrickson spent much of 2011 in a public dispute over practices of the Civil Service Commission and the police department, their alleged violation of the Open Public Meetings Act, and the quality of her work while serving the commission.
