The 46th annual Bainbridge Island Grand Old Fourth Celebration will boast a fun-filled day of events starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, July 4 in downtown Winslow.

The celebration starts at 7 a.m. in the Town & Country parking lot with the pancake breakfast, a benefit for the Bainbridge High School Boosters Club.

The street fair, stretching through Waterfront Park, will follow the breakfast from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lively array of food, crafts, exhibits and displays.

Fun activities will be featured throughout the day including foot races (benefiting Bainbridge Youth Services), a historic baseball game, live music and entertainment and more.

Family entertainment includes kids’ shows, pony rides, a bouncy house, Big Purple Slide, miniature golf, the Kitsap Mounted Posse and more.

Other attractions include a classic car show, a photo exhibit at Waterfront Park Community Center, and a beer-and-wine garden (21 and older).

The Best Small Town Parade in America begins at 1 p.m. and stretches for almost a mile through the downtown on Madison Avenue and Winslow Way.  As in years’ past, organizers expect thousands of people to line the one-mile parade route to watch the parade. New this year is the John Ellis and Frank Buxton Most Humorous Entry Award, which gifts a $1,000 prize to a nonprofit of the winner’s choice.

At 10 p.m. a fireworks display, sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Yacht Club in partnership with Bainbridge Island Fireworks, will light up Eagle Harbor.

The Grand Old Fourth is produced and presented by the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce, with the help of dozens of volunteers and a handful of loyal sponsoring businesses.
