The Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District will be offering all-day “Explorer” camps this Summer.
Park officials note that the all-day camps will give working parents the chance to drop off their children (ages 6-11) at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center between 7 to 9 a.m. and pick them up between 4 to 6 p.m.
The camps being offered by the district are wide-ranging and varied, to engage children of all interests. One week will find kids playing detective games and activities that challenge them to solve a variety of interesting crime scene mysteries, another week will see them in the kitchen, learning the science behind cooking and conducting delicious experiments.
The new program allows for children to have a safe place to recreate at a supervised location before and after a traditional work schedule.
In addition to supervised care, the program will provide transportation to any park district summer camp on the island, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
