Bainbridge park officials will meet this week to talk about naming the Sakai property “Sakai Park.”

The largely undeveloped land on Madison Avenue across the street from Ordway Elementary was purchased for a public park following a successful bond measure vote in February 2015.

The board of commissioners for the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 at Strawberry Hill Center.

Board members will also have a preliminary discussion on the 2017 budget.
