The Agate Pass Bridge repainting project will restart later this week, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 7, contractor crews will close one lane of the bridge. Officials said the single-lane closure will create a work zone that will allow crews to repaint the bridge.
Travelers crossing the bridge will experience one-way alternating traffic with 10 minute delays.
The lane closure will be in place, Monday through Saturday.
The hours of the shutdown are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the day, and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each following day.
WSDOT is advising travelers to add extra travel time when crossing the bridge during the work hours, or to travel early in the morning or later at night.
The daytime work will continue until further notice as conditions allow, officials said.
The speed limit across the span will be reduced to 35 mph, and one sidewalk across the bridge will stay open.
Traffic will be restricted to legal loads only (105,500 max gross vehicle weight).
