The City of Bainbridge Island Planning Commission will hold a special meeting and conduct a public hearing at 6 p.m. March 29 in Council Chambers, City Hall, 280 Madison Ave. to discuss the Shoreline Master Program Update, Ordinance 2012-04.
This ordinance includes amendments to the City of Bainbridge Island Shoreline Master Program (SMP) and related amendments to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, and municipal code, which bring the city into compliance with the Shoreline Management Act (RCW 90.58) and requirements adopted by Chapter 173-26 Washington Administrative Code.
The public hearing material includes the SMP revisions in two formats–a “strikeout and underline” version that shows proposed amendments in relationship to the current SMP, and a “clean” version. Draft Ordinance 2012-04, and other proposed policy and code amendments related to the SMP update, along with scientific information and the city’s cumulative impact analysis and shoreline inventory and analysis, may also be accessed on the City’s website .Copies of the documents may be viewed at the Planning Department at City Hall or the Bainbridge Public Library, or may be purchased at either Custom Printing or Sound Reprographics.
The public is invited to attend this hearing and to make oral and written comments.Anyone who is unable to attend, can submit written comments prior to the hearing date.
An informational open house on the proposed Shoreline Master Program Update will begin at 5 p.m. March 9 also in the Council Chambers, prior to the hearing.
