A 22-year-old Port Orchard man was charged in Kitsap County Superior Court June 12 with first-degree assault, and his bail was set at $1 million.

If convicted, the maximum sentence is life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

On June 9, three people were involved in an altercation in the parking lot at 4111 Wheaton Way. Deshawn Wild died, and one of the others was seriously injured.

Bremerton police reports say the three were smoking cannabis in the parking lot. Wild threw a punch at the other person, and they fell to the ground. A little while later that person was shot, and then some time after that Wild falls to the ground and crawls a short distance. “This appears to be the point Deshawn is shot,” the report says.

The vehicle then leaves.

Wild was found later at the former Harrison Hospital and died. The other man was taken to St. Michael’s Medical Center in Silverdale then to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Interviewing the injured third man, he said the Port Orchard man shot him while he was struggling with Wild.

The police report says the third man likely shot Wild, but no charges have yet been filed.

Stalking arrest

A 46-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court June 9 facing numerous charges. Bail was set at $500,000.

He was charged with second-degree assault, stalking and a court-order violation, all domestic violence. If convicted maximum penalty is 16 years in prison and $35,000 in fines.

Sheriff’s probable cause reports say on May 28 at 11:44 a.m. deputies were called to the 9100 block of Steele Creek Loop NE. The victim came there to get child support money. Once inside the man pointed a gun at her and pushed her to the couch. He covered her nose and mouth and asked her who she was having sex with. He then fired the gun into the wall twice to show her it was an airsoft gun.

As she tried to escape he pushed her up against the wall with his hands on her throat, and she was unable to breathe, papers say. He said if she called 911 he would kill himself. He then offered to give her the money, but she refused. He fled in a vehicle.

The woman said she had been a victim of his for years, papers say. He even put a tracking device on her car. She switched cars with her boss to find that out.

The suspect has since been arrested.

Stolen Christmas

Bail was set at $100,000 for a 48-year-old Poulsbo man for second-degree possession of stolen property.

He was in Superior Court June 9 arrested on a warrant after being charged Dec. 9, 2022.

On Nov. 25 last year a theft was reported at Lowe’s at 5600 Highway 303. Security devices were off when a couple left with multiple items.

The woman admitted to taking some inflatable Christmas decorations. One report says she took them “to give presents to her kids.” The value was over $1,400. The man did not, saying only she put them in his van.

The woman was transported to the county jail.
