Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:
June 22
2:38 p.m. Four Seattle residents were detained after Washington State Ferry employees identified them as possible suspects from a theft that occurred on the ferry.
After the individuals were interviewed at the terminal, it was discovered they were not the those seen by the employee on a wanted flier. They were released.
June 23
8:39 a.m. Officers were dispatched to a High School Road residence for a dispute.
Dispatchers could hear a heated verbal dispute with swearing and sounds of possible physical violence in the background.
Upon arrival at the home, the officers discovered a 13-year-old boy who was having a verbal dispute with his mother. He called 911 because he was mad about having to take a trip to Port Angeles, where his mother was contemplating moving.
Officers concluded that there was no assault or other criminal activity associated with the incident.
11:02 a.m. A Bainbridge male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
The officer recognized the driver due to past incidents with the male.
He was spotted on Fletcher Bay Road and cited. The passenger in the vehicle was also arrested on outstanding warrants and possession of heroin.
6:27 p.m. A vehicle was broken into at Battle Point Park.
The window of the vehicle was shattered and a purse was taken from under the seat. The purse was later found in the parking area of another park.
About $40 in cash and a debit card were missing. No suspect information was provided.
8:36 p.m. The police department received a complaint from the Bainbridge Island School District about a vehicle running a school bus stop paddle on May 19 at Madison Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle was contacted and admitted the violation. He was cited and released.
June 24
7:35 a.m. A black and silver iPod was left in the police department drop-off box.
June 25
11:52 p.m. A vehicle was stopped for a broken tail light and the driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Upon making contact with the female driver of the vehicle, the officer could smell the odor of alcohol and noticed she had watery, blood-shot eyes and her speech was slurred. The driver said she was a resident of Marietta, Ga.
When questioned, she admitted to drinking wine earlier in the evening, but she refused to perform the voluntary field sobriety tests.
She was placed under arrest and taken back to the Bainbridge police station to complete blood alcohol tests.
She was then transported to the Kitsap County Jail and booked for driving under the influence.
3:46 p.m. The police boat responded to a boat collision.
One boat was anchored too closely to a moored boat and the two collided. There was no apparent damage and the owner of the anchored boat moved to a more secure location.
June 26
7:06 a.m. A Dolphin Drive resident called to report that her wallet was missing from her home.
The woman said she had two females visit her house the previous day who talked her into buying books as a fund raiser.
The next morning she discovered her wallet was missing. She did not witness the females take the wallet, but couldn’t find it and believes that the two women may be responsible.
7:32 p.m. Bainbridge police contacted a 24-year-old male subject who was seen removing money from a pay box at the ferry terminal parking lot.
The suspect was positively identified by a witness and later admitted to taking the money, and was arrested and booked into jail.
2:28 p.m. A Bainbridge Island Park & Recreation District employee called 911 to report someone had damaged two restrooms and water fountains at Fort Ward Park at some point during the night of June 24.
No suspect information was reported.
7:53 p.m. A Bainbridge youth said his bicycle was stolen while he was inside the Safeway grocery store on High School Road.
The bicycle was left at the bike rack in front of the store and was gone when he returned.
No suspects reported at this time.
