Because of high temperatures expected Thursday, Poulsbo City Hall will again be open as a cooling station.
The hours are 2-8 p.m. Water will be provided. Pets are allowed if they stay in a kennel.
Kitsap County Emergency Management will operate the center at 200 NE Moe St. due to an “excessive heat watch.”
The center also was open Tuesday and Wednesday for the same reason.
Meanwhile, Bainbridge Island’s cooling station has not been open yet.
City manager Blair King said at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting that temperatures need to be in the 90s for four-straight hours before BI’s cooling station opens at the Senior Community Center on the waterfront.
“We’ve not reached that yet,” he said.
Other sites in Kitsap County open are:
- Port Orchard: First Lutheran Community Church, 2483 Mitchell Rd SE
- Kingston: Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Rd NE
- Central Kitsap/East Bremerton: Kitsap County Fairgrounds Pavilion, 1200 Fairgrounds Rd NW, Bremerton
- Bremerton: Salvation Army, 832 6th St. Open 2-5:30 p.m., reopens at 6 for overnight sheltering
Kitsap Transit will waive fares for passengers needing bus rides to cooling centers.
Additionally, the Bainbridge Island, Little Boston, Manchester, Port Orchard and Sylvan Way branches of the Kitsap Regional Library are available as are many businesses with air conditioning.
