Two vehicles were broken into Saturday after the owners parked them at the Diamond Parking lot off Winslow Way.

One of the vehicles was stolen.

The owner of the stolen vehicle gave police a receipt that showed he parked his car, a green 2000 Honda Civic, in space No. 83 at 11:07 a.m. Saturday, March 15 at the lot.

Police searched the area and could not find a Civic that matched the description or the license plate number. The vehicle was entered as stolen.

Officers received a second report of car prowling later that evening.

The owner of the second car told police when he returned to his vehicle at the Diamond Parking lot, he found the inside light on, the door unlocked and the ignition damaged.

There was also damage above the ignition and to the rear quarter panel of the car.

According to police reports, before he left, the owner had locked the car and activated a hidden “kill switch” that prevents it from being started.

Unable to start the car, the suspect fled the scene.

Nothing was found stolen from the car, but the damages were estimated to cost about $500 to repair.

Employees and taxi drivers at the ferry terminal told police they did not see any unusual activity at the parking lot.
