Puget Sound Energy is continuing to call in additional crews to get power restored across Western Washington Saturday as a gusty windstorm continues to knock down trees and power lines across the region.

Power remains out for hundreds of PSE customers on Bainbridge Island.

Electricity is also out in wide swaths of areas across four counties.

PSE said it has activated “storm bases” to help with restoration efforts in Kitsap, Skagit, Whatcom and north King counties.

The power company has also set up an emergency operations center to coordinate restoration efforts.

The storm center in Kitsap was the first activated, and went into operation shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

“We’re staffed up; restoration efforts are well underway,” said PSE spokesman Ray Lane.

PSE currently does not have an estimate of how many people are without power, Lane said.

He added that PSE expects to be busy throughout the day and evening as the windstorm is expected to continue until nightfall.

PSE had regularly scheduled detachments of work crews ready Saturday.

More crews were added Saturday morning and others are being called up, Lane said.

“They are still bringing folks in,” he said.
