Wing Point Way will be closed for five days next week for work on a culvert as part of the roadway’s reconstruction project.

Wing Point Way will be closed to 500 feet west of Azalea Avenue, and the road will be closed from Monday, Jan. 11 through Friday, Jan. 15.

Detour signs will be posted.

The street project is planned along Wing Point Way between Ferncliff and Park avenues.

According to the city, the $3.3 million project includes reconstruction of the surface of the roadway, stormwater drainage, and water and sewer line improvements. Improvements for walkers and cyclists include the addition of uphill climbing lanes and a sidewalk on the north side of Wing Point Way.

Roadway reconstruction is expected to start in spring, with construction wrapping up in April. Seton Construction was given a contract in October for $1.4 million to complete the construction.

The city received a $1.3 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration in 2013 to help pay for the project.
