Three Saint Cecilia Catholic School students were recently named winners for the 2021 Law Day Essay Contest, sweeping the 7th-9th grade category.
The first-place winner was Bobby Dunn (8th grade), followed by second-place Kate Carver (7th grade), and third place Madeline Jones (also 7th grade). The students were recognized during the Law Day celebration on May 7 and were awarded certificates and cash prizes of $350, $250, and $150.
According to a school news release, the Kitsap County Bar Association sponsors an essay contest each year in celebration of Law Day. The contest is open to students in middle school and high school throughout the county. This year’s theme was “Advancing the Rule of Law Now.” Essays were judged on four criteria: Originality of Thought, Depth of Reasoning, Clarity of Expression, and Organization.
