A presentation by the architectural firm Jones & Jones for possible site plan options will be included at the next meeting of the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District’s board of directors.
The July 6 meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center and will include landscape architects, architects and civil engineers from the Jones & Jones team.
A recent presentation on June 1 examined the community’s recommended uses for the park following an extensive public process in 2016. The upcoming meeting will narrow down the site plan options to those which will best take into account the property’s constraints and will include more developed site configurations and analyses by Jones & Jones than the first presentation.
At the June 1 meeting, officials with Jones & Jones revealed that of the 22.83 total acres of property acquired by the park district, only 6.1 acres are developable.
Of the 6.1 acres that are developable, only 2.1 acres are able to accommodate an impermeable surface such as concrete.
Following the presentation will be a period for members of the public and the board to address their questions to the Jones & Jones team. Design options presented at the meeting will be made available via the park district’s website at biparks.org/planning-process/.
Comments on the design options may be directed to park district senior planner Perry Barrett at perry@biparks.org.
