School district Wilkes capital bond

Issue

On May 19, 2009, voters decide on a $42 million capital bond issuance proposal by Bainbridge Island School District. The bond would pay for the reconstruction of Capt. Charles Wilkes Elementary School, the oldest of the district’s three elementary schools. Included in the bond would be $9.5 million for district wide capital improvements, including roofing, paving and energy conservation projects.

Ballots will be mailed to all island residences on April 29.
