Due to anticipated freezing weather conditions a Kitsap County Severe Weather Shelter in Poulsbo will be open Dec. 23.

Additionally, special measures are being taken at the shelters to prevent the spread of viruses, including COVID-19.

The shelter operates from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. Guests cannot check into the shelter after 8 p.m.

If no guests have checked in by then, that location closes for the night.

The location in Poulsbo is at Gateway Fellowship, West Wing Building, 18901 8th Ave. NE.

The shelter serves anyone in the area who requires safe overnight refuge when hazardous weather conditions are expected. Further activations are

weather dependent.
