Thousands of cyclists from the region journeyed to Bainbridge Island for the 2013 Chilly Hilly on Sunday. Feb. 24.
The annual event is known as the start of the cycling season in the Northwest. Anyone with one, two or three wheels cram onto ferries from Seattle to start the trek and continue by traversing the island’s roads.
A quick break is taken at Battle Point Park before the end of the effort at Waterfront Park. Cyclist are rewarded with chili. A few reward themselves with a beer on the ferry ride back, and giggle when cyclists are notified over the intercom that they left their lights on.
