PSE-provided electricity on the island is 48 percent generated by fossil fuels; 30 percent of it from coal. While efforts are being made to get the utility company to reduce its share of coal-generated electricity, it will be a long time before that actually happens. Solar energy is one way Bainbridge can get off fossil fuels now.
A solar workshop “A Bright Investment for You and the Planet” is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s station on Madison Avenue. Solar experts from Cascadia Solar will discuss the community and environmental benefits of solar and how people can easily install their own clean energy power plant.
