Residents can learn more about solar power — and get details on the island’s first community solar project at city hall — during the upcoming 2012 Bainbridge Island Solar Tour.
Community Energy Solutions will host the tour on Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6. It will include the solar setup at city hall, as well as three new residential systems.
Council chambers will serve as the venue until 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. Visitors will be able to check out the newly installed informational kiosk in the lobby of city hall and ask questions about the community solar project, a 71.3 kilowatt system that’s been installed on the roof of the building.
Grow Community Bainbridge will be showcasing their three new solar homes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The development project is located at 428 Grow Avenue NW.
Organizers of the event said the Bainbridge Solar Tour is part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour, the largest demonstration of installed renewable energy technologies and energy efficient practices in the country.
