Bainbridge Island just got a whole lot bigger. Lynwood, at least, is experiencing a growth spurt that is hard to miss.

Pleasant Beach Village has begun opening its many doors, from storefronts to residences.

Vintage Home and Garden bears the honor of being the first store to open in the new shopping center. The interior design shop with a vintage vibe moved to Lynwood’s newest string of shops from its previous location on the Copper Top Loop.

“This is a way better space for us,” said owner Morgan Miller. “We had an opportunity to do what we wanted with it; we started with the bare walls.”

Miller has taken great care in creating the ambiance of the shop. Her own photographic artwork adorns the walls, and she travels to markets in France up to three times a year to personally select unique additions to line the store’s shelves.

The store opened on Dec. 5. With more than a month under its belt at the Lynwood location, Miller said business has been doing well for being the new, and only, shop on the block.

“It’s been great. People have been so excited to have us here,” Miller said.

Construction continues at Pleasant Beach Village across the street from the Lynwood Theater and Treehouse Café, but businesses are already on board to join the home and garden store as January unfolds.

Pleasant Beach has 12,500 square feet of business, and 1,500 square feet of office space to fill. A bistro, The Beach House at Pleasant Beach, and The Inn at Pleasant Beach, are already lined up to fill part of that space.

Island Cool, a frozen yogurt shop, will also be joining the storefronts of the village.

Tim Ryan Construction recently announced the completion of Island Cool’s 1,487 square-foot shop at the village.

“They will be opening around the beginning of February,” said Jim Laws with Windermere Real Estate.

The village also unveiled its first residences at the complex in early November with 10 new apartments that range in size up to 2,000 square feet.

“We’ve rented about 60 to 70 percent of the units,” Laws said. “The units are finished and we are actively renting right now.”

More homes are planned for future development in years to come.
