A suspect is in custody Dec. 10 for allegedly vandalizing a Kitsap County Public Works project in August that caused more than a million dollars in damage and delays.
The case began Aug. 23 when county road crews returned to a work site on NW Newberry Hill Rd. and Sesame St. NW. to find heavy machinery and other equipment toppled over and vandalized, a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post says. Per Public Works, a retaining wall sustained significant structural damage along with the heavy equipment, delaying a work project and causing a considerable delay in re-opening the roadway.
Detectives conducted a two-and-a-half-month investigation into damage using forensic evidence evaluation to track down a suspect. He was arrested with help from the ProAct Team, per KCSO.
The county Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine charges.
