Jason Michael Lucas, 34, traveled from Roanoke, Virginia with two Bainbridge police escorts and arrived at the jail at 1:27 a.m. Thursday.

Lucas is believed to be the serial burglar responsible for 25 burglaries reported earlier this summer, with 24 of the break-ins on Bainbridge.

He was identified by Bainbridge detectives late last month through DNA samples, witness reports and recovered stolen jewelry.

Bainbridge police enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Service in Seattle to track down Lucas after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was found less than two weeks later in Floyd, Virginia, a town of less than 500 residents, by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Lucas was booked into the Roanoke City Jail and held without bail until he was extradited back to Washington state this week.

Bail at the Kitsap County Jail was set at $250,000 for residential burglary.

Bail was set at $20,000 for a separate charge of theft of rented or leased property.

Lucas was scheduled to appear in Kitsap County Superior Court this morning.
