He was charged with second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence reporting interference. He faces at least 16 years in prison and $35,000 in fines.
Court records say sheriff’s deputies responded July 29 at 3:41 p.m. to the 7700 block of E. Van Buren Street in Port Orchard. The domestic violence victim said her husband had pointed a gun at her and strangled her. The victim had a swollen face and eye, there was blood in one eye and there were multiple marks on her neck.
She said they had been married 1o years and had two children. They had an argument the night before, and she slept on the couch, where she texted her boyfriend. The husband saw her, grabbed a gun, pointed it at her, and said, “I’m sorry, goodbye.” She screamed, grabbed her cellphone and tried to call 911. He knocked the phone out of her hand, got on top of her and started strangling her. He punched her twice, and she punched him back, chipping a tooth.
Later, he wanted her to cuddle and forced her to go to bed with him. Scared for herself and her kids, she complied. The next morning they all went to a coffee shop, McDonald’s and the dentist’s office. He made her cover up with a blanket so no one could see her. She finally was able to call 911 however.
