The Island School is closing starting Friday because of the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Washington state.

“We made an announcement this morning that The Island School will be closed as of Friday, March 13, and will remain closed through at least Friday, March 27,” Joan Henderson said in an email to the Review Thursday.

The Island School is an independent school educating students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

A total of 15 public school districts across the state have announced closures due to COVID-19.

Bainbridge public schools were ordered closed for Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13.
