The Washington State Department of Transportation is advising travelers that the Highway 104 Hood Canal Bridge has been closed to traffic due to high winds.

The span was shut down just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Officials said crews are standing by to reopen the bridge when winds decrease.
