The owner of Doc’s Marina Grill said Thursday that he became aware of Scott Anthony Fuchs’ criminal history just a couple of weeks ago.

Fuchs, 47, was charged with a felony count of voyeurism in Kitsap County District Court on Thursday, Sept. 26. Authorities allege that Fuchs hid a smart phone in an employees’ restroom at Doc’s that was set to record people who used the restroom.

Fuchs was arrested earlier this week after a forensic test of the phone found it contained a video of another employee using the restroom, as well as Fuchs hiding the phone in the restroom.

In court documents, police noted Fuchs is a felon with a prior arrest for voyeurism in 2007.

Tom Aydelotte, the owner of Doc’s, said he had returned to the restaurant on the weekend of Sept. 14 from a vacation and an employee approached him about a 2007 newspaper article the employee had discovered.

The article described Fuchs’ arrest for allegedly filming 50 hours of footage in the restrooms at the Northwest Golf Range in Bremerton. Fuchs was the manager of the range at the time.

After reading the article, Ayedelotte said he confronted Fuchs and asked if he had a problem he should be concerned about.

Fuchs assured Ayedolette that he had gone through years of counseling, and it was part of his dark past.

“It was basically a boldface lie,” Ayedolette said.

“We are shocked and disgusted and sad because he was a very likable guy,” Ayedolette said. “There was no inkling of this until I found out about a week ago.”

Since the discovery of Fuchs’ phone camera in the restaurant’s unisex restroom, Ayedolette has sent out emails to friends and colleagues notifying them of the situation.

Management at the restaurant, he explained, has also reached out to their employees on a one-on-one basis.

“This is a small community,” Ayedolette said. “It’s horrific is what it is. We’re going to do whatever we can to help the police and handle this the best way we can.”
