Nute’s Pond needs help. But Weed Warriors are on the way, and the group is looking for extra volunteers to join them at a work party from 1 to 3 p.m. June 20 at the property.

Helpers can arrive at 1601-2101 Toe Jam Hill Road NE on June 20; look for “open space” signs.

Jeannette Franks said volunteering with the Warriors is an amazing way to learn about plants, tools, parks and trails.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and pruners if you have them but extras can be provided. Bring water in a reusable bottle.

Nute’s Pond is 31-acres of passive park with a captivating landscape whose central feature is a tranquil pond and significant wetland complex. Other park features include trails, wetlands, wildlife habitat and viewing area. Potential improvements include rebuilding the dam, providing viewing platforms, benches and parking.
