William “Bill” Iulo was born Oct. 3, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York. He died April 22, 2016, on Bainbridge Island.
He received his bachelor’s degree from City College of New York in Brooklyn, his master’s degree from Washington State University and his doctorate’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Bill spent his career as economics professor and researcher at WSU and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. During those years, his work also included time in Washington, D.C., at the CIA, the Federal Power Commission and the Ford Foundation.
During retirement years, he was active with AARP and volunteered at the Bainbridge Island Library.
The important things in Bill’s life included family and friends, good food, travel to nearby ocean beaches or far-off parts of the globe, and always learning, whether through formal education, reading, listening or observing.
He enjoyed his home on Bainbridge Island where he could watch the ferries come and go, see freighters and pleasure craft pass by the harbor and catch a glimpse of Mount Rainier on beautiful, sunny days. Bill enjoyed life, and did, indeed, “brighten the corner” where he was.
Bill is survived by his wife, Emma; children Kerry and Shannon; grandchildren Nicole, Stephanie, Audrey and Grant; and several great-grandchildren.
Remembrances may be made to the Bainbridge Public Library or a charity of your choice.
