Windstorm leaves thousands without power across Kitsap

An early morning windstorm with gusts of over 45 miles per hour Dec. 14 wreaked havoc across Kitsap County, causing significant outages from Kingston to Olalla and everywhere inbetween.

About 25,000 homes in the Puget Sound region lost power, the majority of which were in Kitsap. Port Orchard had the most reported outages with 2,000 customers effected followed by Bainbridge Island with 1,500 and over 1,200 in Olalla, per Puget Sound Energy.

Roads blocked by downed trees or wires include: Parcells Road at Shorty Campbell Road, South Kingston Road between Dewberry and Indianola Road and Kingston Street between 20000 and 21000 blocks in Indianola, per North Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

Power is expected to be restored for most customers by mid-day. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect for the Puget Sound area through 4 p.m.
