Winslow gets Halloween spirit

The Halloween season has arrived and Winslow is getting into the spirit with photo opportunities.

The Halloween season has arrived and Winslow is getting into the spirit.

Through October, the mall is featuring painted scenes perfect for photo opportunities. Visitors can pop their heads through the painted scenic boards to appear as an alien, Frankenstein’s monster, and more.

Island artist Alex Sanso created a Martian scene complete with green aliens.

Sanso said she was inspired when Mars recently became a hot topic in the news.

“It came to me when the rover landed on Mars,” she said.

“I wanted something people could put their dogs into,” she added.

Behind the board is a hay bail for pooches to sit on so they can poke their heads through the appropriate hole.

Artist Chloe Sismour, a 16-year-old junior at Bainbridge High School, painted a creepy spectacle out of perhaps the most eerie of farm scenarios — a corn field.

Sismour drafted the painting outline in one night. The hard work of laying down paint took a bit longer, however.

“It took a while,” she said.

The end result of her labor was a pumpkin-headed farmer reaching out of a chilly corn field.

Other scenes at the mall include a Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein, a witch, and a lab complete with severed arm props.
