A woman who has been feeding raccoons for nearly four decades around her North Kitsap home off Miller Bay Road found herself surrounded by nearly 100 of the furry animals Oct. 3.
She asked the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office for help, but deputies referred the woman to the Department of Fish and Wildlife to help find a solution.
She was reportedly forced to run away in her car, KCSO says in a social media video.
The woman told deputies that the raccoons started showing up in big numbers about six weeks ago and surrounded her home day and night demanding food.
She said she’s been quoted prices as high as $500 per raccoon to trap and relocate them.
