Anne L. Samek, age 94, died July 24 at Tandem Healthcare in Lakeland, Fla.

She was born Jan. 19, 1909, in Lincoln, Neb., to Thomas Ottaway and Maude Gooch Cherry.

She was affiliated with the Methodist church and was a teacher with the Bainbridge Island School District until her retirement.

She moved to Florida in 1991 from Seattle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Samek.

She is survived by son Richard Dean Samek of Michigan; daughter Jean Shull of Lakeland, Fla.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle. Arrangements are by Gentry-Morrison Northside Chapel, Lakeland, Fla.
