Barbara M. Rerecich

September 15, 1927 – May 15, 2013

      Barbara M. Rerecich, 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Island Health & Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island. She was born on September 15, 1927 in The Dalles, Oregon to Clarence and Moree Blize and grew up in Waitsburg-Walla Walla County, and graduated from Waitsburg High School in 1945.

      Barb went on to the University of Washington in 1946, and later graduated from Eastern Washington State College. Barb owned and operated funeral homes in Port Townsend and Bainbridge Island until her retirement. In 1975 she married Nick Rerecich and continued her love of gardening with her faithful little dog, “Sassy” and together with Nick their adventure of boating and travel.

      Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Nick. She is survived by her stepdaughter Linda Richards (Guy); sister, LeeNore Finch (Nolan); nephew, Greg Finch (Vanessa) and extended family and friends. A huge heartfelt thank you to Barb’s devoted at home caregivers, Helga, Melissa and Sarah who made everyday an adventure. Also to Island Health for their care and compassion.

      Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the graveside service on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Kane Cemetery on Bainbridge Island.
