Bainbridge resident Capt. Timothy Drew Lindberg, age 44, died May 7.

He was born on Staten Island, N.J. to Howard and Patricia (Kerr) Lindberg. After graduating from Mendham High School in New Jersey in 1976, he attended Maine Marititme Academy, where he graduated in 1980.

He sailed offshore for nearly 10 years, earning an unlimited ocean masters license.

In 1989 he moved to Bainbridge Island and joined the Washington State Ferries, where he was employed until his death.

His hobbies included beekeeping, making stained glass and enjoying the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Lane of Bainbridge Island; son Teddy of new Jersey; parents Howard and Patricia Lindberg; sister Kerrie (Gayle Anders); five nephews and one niece.

A memorial service was held May 18 on Bainbridge Island.
