Carl Bertil Erickson died suddenly Feb. 27 at his home on Bainbridge Island.

He was born July 27, 1927, in Chicago to Alice and Gunnar Erickson. The family moved to Karlstad, Sweden when he was a young boy. He was a resident of Bainbridge Island since 1957.

Returning to the U.S., he served in the U.S. Navy and worked in the electronics field.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Arthur and Erick, sister Lillian and former wife Ruth Erickson.

He is survived by daughter Christine Gripenstedt (daughter of Ruth Erickson) her husband Mikael Gripenstedt and only granddaughter Sophia Gripenstedt, nephews Karl, John and David, and niece Alice and their families.

Services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. April 5. Memorials may be sent to the Bainbridge Island Senior Center.
