Carol A. Reed, age 66
Carol A. Reed passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle on Jan. 30. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on Dec. 6, 1946, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Joyce.
Carol was the owner of The Finishing Touch, a wood finishing and restoration company on Bainbridge Island. She was an avid sailor, participating in the Admiralty Island, Alaska race, the longest inland sailboat race on the West Coat of North America, as well as charters in the Caribbean Islands, New Zealand and Fiji.
Since moving to Bainbridge Island in 1996, she took drawing and watercolor classes at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and at the Winslow Art Center in Bainbridge. She was an avid cook and gardener.
Carol was a graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, NY where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. During her career, Carol worked for Lehrer McGovern, a New York-based construction management company, and OHM Corporation, an environmental services company.
Carol is survived by her partner of 22 years, Charlotte Cuff; daughter Kerry Reed Karson (Burt) and grandchildren Tucker and Elizabth of Crown Point, NY; daughter Kristie Reed Pare (John) and grandchildren Luke, Levi and Ira of Burlington, VT; and sister Barbara Dobson of Spartanburg, SC. Her brother William Joyce (Gay) died on Feb. 6, 2013.
At Carol’s request, a private celebration of her life will be held for family and friends.
