Conrad William Ditmore, age 87, died Oct. 4 at Messenger House Care Center.
He was born July 13, 1915 in Kenmare, N.D., to Wilmot and Effie (Stansbury) Ditmore.
He graduated from Howard Lake High School in Minnesota.
He had a wonderful singing voice and sang in the Minneapolis Men’s Choir.
In 1942, he married June Van Nest and entered military service , serving in the Coast Guard in World War II.
In 1951, the family moved to Seattle. He was a marine diesel-engine sales manager for Hatch and Kirk in Ballard, traveling the Northwest from Oregon to Alaska.
Upon retirement he continued to pursue his leisure activities of golf, fishing and reading. He moved to Bainbridge in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda, of Bainbridge; three sons: Michael of Santa Barbara, Calif.; Daniel Roy of Washington and Brian of Bainbridge; one daughter, Sue Bunn of Bainbridge; a brother, John, of Sauk Center, Minn., a sister Margaret Barth, Howard Lake, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be announced at the future date. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
