David G.R. Cowie, 35, died March 25 at his Poulsbo home, surrounded by his family, after a six-year battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 5, 1970, in Seattle. He graduated from Western Washington University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He earned a teaching certificate at Central Washington University in 1998, and taught at North Kitsap High School since 2002.
He married Mary Schott, on Memorial Day weekend, 1998 at Fort Warden in Port Townsend
He enjoyed teaching, snowboarding, golfing and spending time with wife and daughter
He is survived by his wife Mary Cowie and daughter Allison Cowie of Poulsbo; mother June (Ralston) Anderson and step-father Glen Anderson of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and father David Cowie of Edmonds; sister Lynn Anderson of Portland, Ore., and brother Sy Cowie of Edmonds.
Services will be at 2 p.m. May 22 at Kiana Lodge. A memory book will be created for his daughter; guests are asked to bring a story, thought or picture to add. Memorial donations can be made to the Allison Cowie Education Fund, American Marine Bank.
