Dick Dice, resident of Bainbridge Island from 1997 to 2017, died March 3rd, 2021 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Dick was born in Tipton, Iowa and at age nine, his family moved to southern California. In high school he took a keen interest in photography and worked at a photo store developing negatives to pay for college. In 1957 he graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, California and went on to work for the Boeing Company for 38 years. Dick was very interested in British sports cars, and he and his wife, Nancy Leer Dice, were active members in the Morgan Owners Group Northwest. He was a voracious reader and loved a good movie. Dick also had a great love of jazz and folk music and played many instruments including the piano, trumpet, guitar, and autoharp. During the 1970’s and 80’s he played autoharp for the New Prosperity String Band. Dick spent his final days peacefully and surrounded by his family and caregivers. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy of 43 years. Survivors include a son, Michael, daughters Elizabeth, Cynthia, and Jennifer; five grandsons and one granddaughter.
