Dolores Duckworth, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sept. 25, 2017 on Bainbridge Island.
She was born July 5, 1927 to John and Oxana Bokovoy in Kief, North Dakota. Her parents had immigrated from Ukraine as children around 1903 to escape religious persecution of their Christian faith. She lived in Kief until her teen years when her family moved to Bremerton during World War II for shipyard employment.
In Bremerton she met and married the love of her life, Herman Charles Duckworth. The Duckworth family lived and raised three children in Eagledale on Bainbridge Island.
Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and homemaker and serving in her church, Bainbridge First Baptist where she was a founding member.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, in 2004. She was the last of her siblings, John, Ronald, Grayce, Marjory and Gordon Bokovoy. She is survived by her three children, Ronald (Sally), Donald (Sheila), and Pamela Duckworth; six grandchildren, Kelley (Todd) Krause, Tessie, Hannah, Derick, Ryan (Madison), and Melanie Duckworth; five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Caleb, Peter, Silas and Luke Krause; as well as many nieces, newphes, and extended family.
A memorial service for Dolores will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Bainbridge First Baptist Church. Her ashes to be placed with Herman at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bainbridge First Baptist Church.
