Former Bainbridge resident Donald H. Christopherson, 73 of Bremerton, died July 12.
He was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Seattle to Henry and Ingeborg (Mae) Christopherson of Bainbridge Island.
In his early years, he played the saxophone in the band at Bainbridge High School and came in second in the state in a competition. His love of music continued throughout his lifetime, and he played in several bands.
He graduated from Bainbridge High, class of 1947, and went on to attend the University of Washington.
He was inducted into the Army in May 1952, leaving behind his wife Donna and two small children.
He transferred to the Army Reserve as a cook, and was discharged in 1956.
He became a certified public accountant, and worked at Group Health for 18 years, retiring due to health problems.
He enjoyed boating, fishing and woodworking in his retirement.
Survivors include his wife Donna; ex-wife Sonja; daughters Barbara Ann Miller and son-in-law Bruce, Lynn Brunner and son-in-law Donald, and Denise Christopherson; sons William and daughter-in-law Jo, and Dean and daughter-in-law Julia; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry, daughter Sandra Lee Chew and granddaughter Zoe Ann Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. July 18 at Olympic View Assembly of God in Silverdale. A reception follows at the Silverdale Park in Old Town Silverdale.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel, with interment at Port Blakely Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County or a cancer fund.
