Dr. Jack Calvin Bunn, born Oct. 28, 1937, passed away Feb. 13, 2018.
Jack was a true Renaissance man. Not only was he an excellent eye surgeon, he got his first pilot’s license at age 16.
He played the piano, loved scuba diving, hunting, cooking, drinking martinis and traveling the world. He attended Duke University and Harvard Medical School; both on full scholarships.
He spoke five languages: fluent English, Spanish and German; passing French and Russian; and just enough Finnish to embarrass his sons. He had a brilliant mind, a wicked sense of humor, an insatiable curiosity, an adventurous spirit and a kind heart.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Coble Bunn; sons Erik (Switzerland) and Marko Bunn (Finland); daughter Catalina Bunn Batalla (Costa Rica); five grandchildren; three step-sons; his brother Scott Bunn; and numerous other family and friends who loved him dearly.
There will be a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at 10254 NE Country Club Road, Bainbridge Island.
