Edmund Swiecicki, age 79, died Dec. 15 at Messenger House.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Constantine and Mary Swiecicki.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of corporal. For his service he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific and American Theater Medals.
He spent the next 30 years working for the Department of Defense in Ogden, Utah.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Swiecicki, who died in 1995. He is survived by son Guy J. Richards of Bainbridge Island; daughter Beverly Olsen of Tracyton, Wash.; sister Irene Cizak of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and six grandchildren.
Services with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 22 at Washington Heights Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah.
Remembrances may be made to the Blinded Veterans Association in Washington, D.C.
