Elizabeth S. Moore, age 89
Elizabeth Corwin Senger (“Wyn”) Moore passed away on January 13 on Bainbridge Island, WA.
Wyn was born in 1923 in Pueblo, CO to Dr. William Senger and Mary K. Senger. She attended Hollins College in Roanoke, VA where she was president of her sophomore class. Because transportation was very difficult during World War II, Wyn transferred to Colorado College in Colorado Springs where she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1943, Wyn met Captain Frank C. Moore, an attorney, stationed at Camp Carson, CO. They married shortly before Frank’s combat duty in New Guinea and the Philippines. In his absence, Wyn continued her education and graduated with honors from Colorado College.
Wyn was a devoted wife and mother who made it a priority to be active in her children’s school activities, and was deeply committed to her husband’s law career and their social obligations. Always involved and active, she was passionate about art and enjoyed painting and crafts.
Wyn sold her home in Dallas in 2011 and moved to a retirement center on Bainbridge Island, WA to be closer to family members. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Wyn was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Frank. She is survived by her three children: James S. Moore (June) of Camarillo, CA, Robert I. Moore (Dixie) of Bainbridge Island, WA and Suzanne Millard (Thomas) of Honolulu, HI; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
