Esther Lillian Anderson, age 84, died Jan. 28 in Seattle after a brief illness.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1920, in Seattle to Frank and Lily Glithero Anderson.
A 1937 graduate of Broadway High School, she attended Wilson’s Modern Business College, graduating with honors in 1939.
She had a long business career as a purchasing agent for New England Fish Company, Alaska Packers Association, Inc., and Peter Pan Seafoods, Inc., from which she retired in 1990.
She was a former member of the Swedish Mission Covenant Church and the Swedish Club of Seattle. For the past decade, she was a resident of Bainbridge Island.
She is survived by her longtime friend and companion, Jay S. Gage of Bainbridge Island; her sister, Frances Mullen of Ontario, Ore.; nephews Phillip Mullen of Oregon City, Ore., Patrick Mullen of Portland, Ore., Dale Applequist of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Linden Applequist of Bellevue; and niece Kathy Hullen Boss of Payette, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Applequist Smith; and a nephew, Curtis Mullen.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m Feb. 4 at Grace Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may in her name to the memorial fund of Grace Episcopal Church, 8595 Day Road, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
